Rock-a-bye baby

Will had Ethan lying on the foot stool for our rocking chair and was holding onto Ethan's legs when he realized that if he pushed against Will's hands he could rock himself.

Welcome to the world!

At 8:30 am on February 20, 2011 I woke up with cramping and what they call the "bloody show". By the time church started at 9 am I was having pretty persistent contractions about every 10-15 minutes. By 8:30 pm that night I was contracting every 3-5 minutes and decided it was time to go to the hospital. On February 21, 2011 Will and I welcomed our baby boy Ethan Kellen Gruver to the world. He was born at 6:25pm, weighed 7lbs. 11oz. and measured 19.5 in. long. My labor went fairly easy once I got an epidural. Once I reached 10 centimeters and could start pushing it only took an hour for me to deliver our beautiful little boy into the world. After they got him out I began to hemorrhage, but the doctor knew it was going to happen so she was prepared with the blood clotting medication. After the bleeding got controlled it was time to try breastfeeding. Ethan latched on the first time and it like we were old pros at it. However, it soon turned onto a very long next few days since my actual milk didn't come in until the Friday after he was born. The day after he was born we were moved in to another room and Ethan was taken away to get circumcised. The doctor had warned us that he would come back irritated and fussy, but when he returned he was quiet and slept most of the day. Two days after he was born we got to go home from the hospital and then the real fun began. I had a fussy baby for about 2 1/2 weeks until we found out that he was allergic to breast milk. Once we put him on formula and got him on the right kind everything started to change. He is now a chubby happy baby and went from being in the 50% for his height and weight to 75%. He also has begun to vocalize more with little noises and knows when his grandma walks in to the room. Until the next update...
